Finding yourself

You are not just the brand you wear

Nor are you defined by being dark or fair

You are not the shape and size you come in

You are about your individuality and not how you fit in

You are not what circumstances make you

You are defined by how you overpower them to get through

You are not about the your success and things you failed at

But the experiences in the process you amassed

Don’t define your self by things people think you can do

Because your limits can only be set by you

Search deep inside and to yourself be true

And then suddenly you will find the real you

Pursuit Of Happiness

Happiness isn’t something you can buy

But being happy gives you wings to fly

Some try to find it in their success

Some in their pursuit of money relentless

Some think power is the only way

To make happiness with them stay

But like a butterfly it eludes everyone

The more you chase it the more it runs

It manifests itself in small things of life

Still we ignore these small joys

Nature’s wonders

Sky adorned with a beautiful golden glow
Beckoning you to Relax and take it a little slow
Waves splashing against the golden sands
Picture perfect as if God has waved his magic wand
We rush from one job to another
Small pleasures in life we don’t bother
Nature in all its glory offers many pleasures
But we never seem to find time for leisure
Lush trees dancing in summer breeze
Colourful flowers blossoming in spring
Setting sun painting the sky in its hue
White clouds dotting the sky clear and blue
All these pleasures are their for us to enjoy
But nature is what we chose to destroy

You came to us like a soft summer breeze

And filled our lives with lot of Bliss

I wish i could make these beautiful moments freeze

Cause your lovely childhood we will miss

Despite of all my worries and fears

You were the best thing to happen to me

You made me smile and wiped my tears

With you life is full of happiness and glee

You are naughty and mischievous brat

But you are so adorable even at that

You make a mess, you break everything

But your charm always has me relenting

You have made our lives worth living

We love you our darling baby boy

You are our little bundle of joy!!

As I look into the mirror

A little girl stares back at me

Her eyes twinkling eyes shining so bright

Wind is blowing her hair nice and free

Running free like a child she makes a pretty sight

Her lips twitched into a naughty smile

Radiant face brimming with life

Her eyes shine with unfulfilled dreams

No worries no fear no signs of strife

I am mesmerized by her innocence

I want to hold her back and ask her so many questions

But in a blink of eye she goes away

I really admire her spirit- so joyful and free as i remember her wistfully

Suddenly I realize that she is none other than “younger me”

 

 

Dreams and Desires

I have my dreams and my desires

Want to set this world on fire

I know you laugh, you mock

But my dreams you cant block

Maybe they seem a little impossible

Hardwork &  dedication will make them feasible

I know my path is not very easy

This thought doesnt make me uneasy

Achieving them will make me exhausted and creamed

But I will never let go of my dreams

Set me free and let me fly

Even if i fail, let me try

I have my dreams and my desires

Let me set this world on fire

I was sitting at the edge of the swimming pool watching my husband  enjoying with my son and daughter. I wanted to jump in and join in all the fun they seemed to be having but water has always terrified me. So I sat by the edge of the pool with my legs dipped in water feeling morose. After their swim my son came up to me and asked me- Mom why didn’t you join us?  We had such a great time. I answered-” Darling mommy is scared to jump in. She doesn’t know swimming. And he so innocently said- Why don’t you learn swimming mommy? That way you never have to be afraid anymore.

I have always been fascinated by people who could swim like fish. Every time I went for beach vacations I looked enviously at people who just jumped in the water and swam carefree and joyously for hours together. But somehow I was never been able to overcome my fear of water and learn swimming. For years I kept making excuses to avoid learning swimming.

His statement was an eye opener. My son- a 5 year old had taught me an important lesson that day. I take my fear head on and face it- that way I will never feel afraid.

Today as I came out after a nice one hour swim with my son I am glad I decided to face my fears. I feel a renewed sense of confidence knowing that no fear is greater than my will power to overcome it.

As kids we are so fearless but somehow in the process of growing up we let our natural confidence and curiosity be curbed by fears. I was able to over come at least one of my fears. What about you? Are you ready for the challenge?

Saying goodbye to the passing year

Air is filled with joy and cheer

Hope is what fills the mind

New beginnings always follow the grind

Year gone by is now a history

Coming year is an exciting mystery

Dreams which were broken

Words which were unspoken

Pain and sorrow are now in past

New year brings joys which will last

Let’s all welcome this new year

Letting go of all our sorrows and fears

Laugh, love , hope and live

Embrace everything the year has to give

Party hard till the break of the light
