Social addiction

His wife stood and wept silent tears

While family was distraught because they care

But wait is that all who are really there

Followed by ten thousand on twitter

Where have all these people frittered

Facebook friends I have in plenty

Then why is my funeral so empty

How I wish I could have spend time with my loved ones

Than entangling myself in social web I spun

Ode to Women

You can feel her innocence as a daughter

You can see her love as a mother

As a sister you can enjoy her care

Fight as she might she will always share

You can feel her passion as a lover

Make her a wife and get her devotion for ever

As a grandmother she showers her blessings on you

In all the roles she plays in your life she breezes through

But as tender and loving as she might seem she is tough

She doesn’t give up easily when life gets rough

Don’t judge her beauty by how good she looks

Or expect her to lead her life by some rule book

Her beauty lies in her inner strength

Her ability to love deeply and be intense

Decoding Women

Some think we want lots of money

Or a dream man to call us honey

Many think we want to look good

Maintain our weight while eating good food

Most think shopping is what excites us

Unlimited credit is definitely a plus

Most think we belong inside the house

Following instructions and being quite as a mouse

“What women want?” is a difficult questions

Men all over the world are still trying to find an answer

Don’t ponder don’t stress

We want freedom nothing more nothing less

Freedom to dream freedom to live

Freedom to choose what we believe

Nurture us, cherish us and let us be

Don’t chain us but set us free

Sun- the might star

He looks down on the world below

With twinkling eyes & cheeks that glow

He nurtures life & propels growth

With his tender love & warmth

Sun O Sun he is the king of bright blue skies

Key to our existence in your hand lies

He showers his light & warmth on everyone

Wishes prosperity for all without discrimination

His bright & vibrant face starts our day

Birds chirping & lush green trees makes my heart gay

Sun O Sun he is the king of bright blue skies

Key to our existence in your hand lies

At night when the darkness creeps

In the blanket of clouds he goes to sleep

Next morning he comes out to play

Ushering a bright & cheerful new day

Contrasting realities

Life is a strange combination of joy and sorrow

No one knows what might happen tomorrow

Life is a mixture of good and bad

Sometimes happy and sometimes sad

Devastation of slum with small & crammed houses

The glory and pride of a rising skyscraper

Glamour of lavish parties & festivities unending

Shabbiness & despair of a street beggar

Happiness of a new born child

Death of a child driving the mother wild

The gleeful laughter of a newly wed bride

White saree of a widow her misery flowing through her sad eyes

Life is full of such stark contrasts

Teaching us to savour happy moments while they last

Nothing in life will last forever

We can’t take anything for granted ever

Good times don’t wait bad times we can’t prevent

Life is a series of such hot & sweet moments

Being a Woman

Mothers, daughters and some are wives

All leading different lives

Some could be short some are tall

Some are large and some are small

Straight hair for some others with curls

Beautiful smiles and skirts that swirls

But don’t judge her for only her looks

Or adore her just for her ability to cook

Don’t think she is frail &weak

Don’t be misled by tears which roll down her cheeks

Soft as she might be she has inner strength

Problems and issues she doesn’t easily relent

Treat her well and she will always be there

Because her heart is meant to love and care

When she falters and falls lend her your hand

Promise her that by her side you will stand

But don’t judge her for only her looks

Or adore her just for her ability to cook

She is a mother, a daughter and a wife

Cherish her and she will be joy for life

Kindness

Single act of kindness can go a long way

A small smile from you make someone’s day

In our busy lives we all forget to give

Forget that nicety & goodness are reasons for which we live

We hurt each other with our words and deeds

We often do things with which our ego feeds

Single act of kindness can go a long way

A small smile from you make someone’s day

Kindness is felt even by deaf and blind

It’s this kindness that makes human race bind

A kind deed done definitely comes back to you

Let’s start being kind and goodness accrue

Single act of kindness can go a long way

A small smile from you make someone’s day

Wretched Weighing scale!!

Wonder why when I step on weighing scale

Numbers always tell a sorry tale

Every night I make a resolution

From whale to mermaid start the evolution

But as the morning sun rises in sky

Thought of lifting myself from the bed makes me cry

Forget exercise focus on food

But why do unhealthy things taste so good

Never mind there is always tomorrow

Today let me eat a cookie and drown my sorrow

Wonder why when I step in weighing scale

Numbers always tell a sorry tale

My ambition

When I was born and was still tiny and wee

My mother felt she saw a “doctor” in me

I was still not out quite out of my diapers

But aspirations my mom had could not be tampered

My father had some other plans in his mind though

In my hand swings he saw moves of “tennis pro”

But since to everyone’s eyes I was as cute as kitten

My granny thought I could be a “star” with whom everyone was smitten

My sister thought I could break into a song & sing in glee

But a little problem was I was really couldn’t find the right key

My my I was still barely out of my baby crib

And the family had decided what I would be when I was big

Wonder if anyone will ask me what I want to be

Flying in the sky as a bird wild and free

God is inside you!!!

When my life was crumbling all over

I called you to help me in my prayers

I kept calling you again and again

But neither did you come nor did you lessen my pain

My misery seemed to never end

Problems in my life never seemed to relent

I frantically started to search for you

I went to temples, churches and mosques too

I went and prayed everywhere

Hoping that you hear my prayers

My search for became quite frantic

Chants, hymns, offerings I tried every antic

Now I started to wonder if you were really there

If you existed did you really care

Lost and defeated I gave up my search

I did not find you in mosques, temples or church

I gathered my strength and decided to fight

Stand strong for what I thought was right

That’s when I instantly knew

That’s when inside me I found you.
